Bonnaroo Lineup leaked

Apparently, the 2010 Bonnaroo lineup has been leaked! But that is not to say that it could be a photoshop or a complete fake,( Ive dealt with the shattered hopes of false lineups before). But if this lineup ends up beckoning some form of truth, then 'Roo 2010 will easily be THE festival of 2010. Headliners include Dave Matthews Band, Jay Z, Roger Waters Playing The Wall, Disco Biscuits, String Cheese Incident and Sts9.

The overall feel of the lineup conveys the ultimate sense of the summer festival, jam bands. When someone goes to a summer fest, it is not only to hear those that you like and the experiment, but it is to open yourself up to new musical theorys, meet new people, and meet new music. The concept of Jam is a door to all of those, because out of the jam can come musical stylings that one hadnt thought to hear over the backbeat of Michael Jackson's " Thriller", the people you meet while seeing jam bands range so broadly because a jam band can take form of any number of different types of music, meaning a broader audience and a better chance to connect with someone you may have never had the chance of meeting before.
While I hope very much so that this lineup is THE lineup of Bonnaroo, i have made sure to not put all my beans in one basket.

Halfway to Forecastle?

Due to the improbable timing of obtaining mononucleosis; i.e the kissing disease, I was unable to attend Halfway to Forecastle in Louisville. Thankfully that did not hold my friends back from going to what many have said was, " The best electronica themed festival any could have held in Kentucky.". The festival was held in the Butchertown portion of Louisville, where fifty years ago almost every building was either a meat shop or a processing and butcher plant. Not surprisingly, the show was held in a renovated warehouse that used to hold up to 200,000 pounds of dead cow.
Upon entrance, my friends were hit in the face with not one pulsating beat, but three that came from different rooms located throughout the building. At one time there were three DJs hitting the table, and if one didnt appeal to your sense, you would simply walk into the next room and see what they had to offer. The general consesus was that the best beats and vibes didnt come from the main room, but a smaller room to the side where everyone was crammed in to listen to local Djs all night.

Festivals

Throughout this blog I will be dicussing present, future, and past music festivals that have helped set a tone through the music industry. Whether it be the upload of electronica at Bonnaroo 2009 or the wave of indie rock through Coachella 2007-2008, I want to be able to update and inform the whereabouts of maybe unknown festivals and current music trends.
A festival that I plan on attending this upcoming Saturday is Halfway to Forecastle in Louiseville. It is a mostly electronica themed festivals with three tents in a giant wharehouse in the downtown area of louisville. There will be some live band sets but mostly it will involve spin tables and laptop tops. Check back in on Sunday to see some pictures and qoutes about the festival and my experience in it
